The Men & Their Machines

Tracy Island in the Pacific Ocean is the home base of International Rescue, a 21st century organisation specialised in seemingly impossible rescue missions. Their five rescue craft are called the Thunderbirds.

 
Click on the Thunderbird pictures for a larger image Jeff Tracy (56), a billionaire and former astronaut, is the founder and leader of International Rescue. His five sons, named after American astronauts from the 1960's, form the backbone of IR.
Scott Tracy (30) pilots Thunderbird 1, a rapid reconnaissance craft which is always the first to arrive at the scene of the disaster.
Virgil Tracy (27) is the pilot of Thunderbird 2, tranporting heavy rescue equipment in a number of interchangeable 'pods'.
Alan Tracy (19) is the astronaut of the space rocket Thunderbird 3. Every other month, he relieves John in the space station Thunderbird 5.
Gordon Tracy (22) is at the controls of the submarine Thunderbird 4, and the co-pilot of Thunderbird 2.
John Tracy (25) mans the space station Thunderbird 5, monitoring all communication frequencies for emergency calls.
